The author thanks Marco Leona, Scientist-in-Charge of the Department of Scientific Research at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for conducting fluorescence spectrometry on Wheel of Fortune and a valuable discussion of the research, as well as Silvia Centeno, Research Scientist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, who performed Raman analysis on the watercolors and also contributed her insight. The phenomenon of the phosphorescing lithopone was originally discovered during the author's fellowship in the Sherman Fairchild Center for the Conservation of Works on Paper, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The author thanks all her colleagues for their ideas and support during the research of this paper, and special thanks to Rachel Mustalish for her assistance in editing this work.

Beyond its cosmetic role, TiO2 also acts as a UV stabilizer. It shields the nitrile gloves from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation, thereby increasing their longevity and maintaining their integrity under prolonged exposure. Application:
1. Due to its rheological and optical properties, Lithopone offers technical and economic advantages wherever organic and inorganic resin systems need to be relatively highly pigmented for specific applications. Lithopone has therefore traditionally been used in putties, mastics, jointing and sealing compounds, primers, undercoats and marking paints. In powder coatings it is possible to replace TiO2 partially, very economically.

2. The low Mohs' hardness of Lithopone leads to low abrasiveness in comparison with TiO2.

3. Lithopone 30 % (= 30% zinc sulfide share) is proven to be of particular use as a TiO2 Substitute in thermoplastic masterbatches. Even at very high pigment loadings it disperses easily. A masterbatch containing 50 % TiO2 and 25 % Lithopone 30 % DS has the same hiding power as one containing 60 %TiO2. Cost savings are strongly related to the price ratio of Lithopone and TiO2 and the price of for example polyethylene or polypropylene.

4. The Lithopone batch has a much higher extrusion rate too. Furthermore the impact strength of many thermoplastics such as PP and ABS can be noticeably improved by using Lithopone as a TiO2 substitute. Generally spoken, Lithopone can be used at loadings up to 80 % by weight without causing polymer breakdown

Titanium dioxide, known for its exceptional refractive index and UV-blocking properties, is a key ingredient in various industries. The Microbar factory, however, goes beyond conventional production methods, focusing on micro-scale production that enhances efficiency and precision. The 'microbar' in its name refers to its ability to produce titanium dioxide particles at an incredibly minute scale, enabling unique performance characteristics in end-products.

Moreover, these facilities are increasingly powered by renewable energy sources, further lessening their ecological footprint. Solar panels, wind turbines, and hydroelectric power are just some of the alternatives being adopted to fuel the transformation towards sustainable production. As a result, the cost of going green is becoming more accessible, allowing factories to pass on savings to customers without compromising the competitiveness of their eco-friendly prices.

  • Percale cotton sheets come in a wide range of thread counts, typically ranging from 180 to 800 threads per square inchpercale cotton sheets. While higher thread counts often equate to increased softness, it's important to note that quality is equally dependent on the yarn's thickness and the weaving process. A well-made 250-thread-count percale sheet can often feel more comfortable and durable than a poorly constructed 500-thread-count sheet.

  • The Versatility of Medium-Towel Sizes A Comprehensive Guide
  • Firstly, raw materials play a significant role. Towels are primarily made from cotton, which is a commodity subject to fluctuations in global markets. The quality of cotton, whether organic or conventional, Egyptian or Turkish, directly impacts the initial manufacturing cost. Add to this the energy and water consumed during the spinning, weaving, and dyeing processes, all of which contribute to the environmental footprint and the final price tag.
  • Usually a flat bed sheet is overlocked around the edges to form four seams. One of the seams is wider than the other three and helps with orienting the sheet correctly on the mattress. The wider seam goes at the head end of the mattress. Sometimes the sides do not have seams, but are finished with the selvedge only. When one makes a bed, the patterned or monogrammed side of the top sheet may be placed facing up, or facing down, in which case the top edge may be folded towards the foot of the bed to expose the design.
